Within the framework of the training course “Generations, LLL, LLG, Parental Education and Municipal Opportunities and their Digital Tools”, which took place in Berlin at the beginning of May 2022, representatives of the City of Graz and employees of NGOs in the education sector also visited nwik (partner in the Simply Digi project). At the location in Frankfurter Allee, young adults are offered vocational orientation, training preparation and vocational training, including socio-educational support. The target group is young adults who have only limited access to the so-called first training market, for example because they do not have a school leaving certificate.
The reception of the Austrian guests was very friendly. And there home economists are also trained on site, the catering was not only rich, additionally also professionally prepared and delicious!
The visit provided a good and informative insight into the services offered by the youth vocational assistance: counselling, applicant-oriented training placement, vocational orientation as well as counselling on school-based training and qualification opportunities. The professional exchange during the visit made it clear how digitalisation has progressed. For example, especially during the pandemic, contact with young adults could often only be maintained with digital tools. The communication channels within the nwik team have also changed considerably, for example through video meetings.
Finally, everyone tried out a quiz on training and career orientation with the help of the digital tool Kahoot. The learning and fun factor was very high.
